Constitutional rights?

From this week's [now last week's] editorial:

... Nowhere in the U.S. Constitution does it offer the right to do whatever you please with your private property. But it does state quite clearly the need to "insure domestic tranquility" and "promote the general welfare."...

Any thoughts on this?

  1. The Constitution protects the rights of the people as individuals. If one individual's rights are not protected, then every individual is in danger of losing their rights.

The regulatory planning process is probably unconstitutional because the individual is often discriminated against, and individual rights thrown out.

This does not insure domestic tranquility, or promote the general welfare, as we can see by the economy, and social unhappiness of today, after 35 years of regulatory planning.

The Constituion and Bill of Rights are the foundation of the environment in our country, not the regulatory planning process.
